Junior High Orchestra Uniform Care and Maintenance
Dear Families of Junior High Orchestra Students,
As you may know, the Junior High Orchestras provide uniform pieces for our students. This is a wonderful thing for the image of our ensemble, but it requires great care. Your uniform has been fitted and/or hemmed specifically for you, but please try it on in advance of our concert, just in case it does not fit like it should. Guidelines for the general care of the uniform vests and pants are listed below:
CARE INSTRUCTIONS: Machine wash, in cold water, using the gentle cycle. You may want to do a separate load for these items, since the dark colors can sometimes bleed onto other items. Do not use any bleach. Tumble dry on low/delicate setting for about 20 minutes and hang until completely dry. Don’t let the uniform sit in the dryer after the cycle is done. If your uniform is wrinkled but doesn’t need washing, you can dampen it and put it in a low/delicate dryer cycle for a few minutes. Ironing will not be needed if this procedure is followed. A hot iron will permanently damage the material because it is 100% polyester.
Please take good care of your uniform. These will be used by many other orchestra members in the years to come and we want them to look good!
REMEMBER: Do NOT cut or iron the uniforms!!! Thanks!!!

Uniform Guidelines
The look of our orchestra is very important to the quality of our performance. Therefore, the Junior High Orchestra Students at Jenison wear a specific uniform for most of their performances.
Boys: Each boy must provide his own black dress pants, white long-sleeved button-up dress shirt, black socks, and dressy black shoes. The boys rent a green vest from JOPA each year.
Girls: Each girl must provide her own dressy long-sleeved white button-up blouse, black nylons or knee-high socks, and FLAT dressy black shoes. (Girls who are also in choir may wear their choir ballet slippers, if they wish.) The girls will also rent black palazzo pants and a green vest from JOPA each year.
*The directors maintain a supply of gently used uniform items to be given to students for free. If any family would like help acquiring these items, please just ask!
