Summer String Buddy Lessons!
Whether your student needs an extra challenge, or wants some extra review of skills learned this year, he or she can be most prepared for next year’s Orchestra class by some additional study over the summer. Jenison Orchestras offers five half-hour private lessons with “string buddies” over the summer, (with optional additional lessons to be arranged with the instructor). Lessons occur at the Junior High on Monday-Thursday, between 8am and 2pm. The Jenison Orchestra Parents Association can provide scholarships for students who desire some assistance with the cost of these lessons. (Usually $25 scholarships are provided if requested). Please return this slip by Friday, April 26th.
The Michigan Chapter of the American String Teachers Association (MASTA) puts on an high-quality three-day overnight camp for string students who are in the 5th or 6th Grade, and have played a string instrument for a year or two. It happens in June, and is a fantastic "first camping" experience for students. Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Bush, and Mr. Scott have all spent twenty or more summers on staff at this camp, and Jenison always is one of the most "represented" schools at the camp! You can find lots more info about MASTA Camp (Session One) on their website HERE. There are two scholarship opportunities for families who are interested as well. Blue application forms were handed out to students in class, and are also attached below. Applications are due before May 1st, and MASTA scholarship applications are due April 1st. Let me know if you have any questions, as I'd love for your child to attend!
